The higher difficulty you are playing will net you more experience as well as doing higher level GRs will grant more experience for you legendary gems. The gems in your gear would get experience as you gain paragon experience. The compromise that might be harder is to overhaul the leveling of gems for augments. While it would be easier to strip the soul shards of their power and just have them as augment shards that drop with either ranked at rank 3 or have another consumable similar to the embers to rank them. Salvaging a Level 70 Ethereal item will provide a random number of Forgotten Souls and Death's Breaths, and Greater Rift Keystones.I agree as well as the rest, but there is a compromise that I would accept that would probably be harder to do.Ethereals only drop in Seasonal play, and will not transfer to your non-seasonal character when the season ends.Ethereals found in Softcore and Hardcore modes count towards the common goal. Players who accomplish this will have all Ethereal transmogrify options available for future seasonal and non-seasonal play. Collecting all 21 Ethereals during Season 24 will reward players with the "Feat of Strength, Ethereal Recollection".Ethereals can be augmented and socketed with Ramaladni's Gift.Ethereals cannot be Enchanted, Transmogrified, Dyed, Reforged, or traded.Legendary Powers and Class Passive Skills rolled on Ethereals do not stack with the same power equipped through Kanai's Cube, Items or Skills.Only one Ethereal can be equipped at a time.Each Ethereal has fixed affixes and rolls one random Legendary Weapon power and one random Class Passive Skill.
